About The Creator Behind

DeTroyt Fabrications

Hello,

My name is Troy and DeTroyt Fabrications is my creative outlet.  I chose the name because I live in Detroit and "de" in French means "of".

So all these creations are:

"of"Troy + Detroit = DeTroyt Fabrications

I started my career as an Imagineer for Walt Disney. I was able to learn from hundreds of talented artists building models and designing new rides for the parks. There, almost everything was built using repurposed items modified to extract its beauty in an extraordinary new way.

This got me to thinking about what else I could do with repurposed items. I enjoy giving new life to items that society had discarded as irrelevant. Maybe that is because I live in Detroit. So much beautiful architecture has been allowed to decay, but I love it when architects and designers embrace the beauty of the industrial age that made this city great.

I try to recapture some of that industrialist optimism by bringing that style into my art. There are similarities, and occasional duplicates, but each piece will have it's own character and charm. I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I enjoy creating them.

Sincerely,

- Troy

Creative Lighting Art Studio

I make unique upcycled lighting, or "luminary sculptures" from repurposed objects. You will find decorative lamps to light up any home decor, but industrial, urban, rustic, farmhouse and steampunk are my favorite styles. Each piece is artfully hand crafted with love and attention to detail. As an artisan based in Detroit, MI I believe in the preservation of our history and the beauty of craftsmanship in antiques, but I recognize the need to meet modern electric codes so that they are as safe as they are beautiful.  I have always enjoyed creating art. There is just something about watching the seed of an idea morph as it grows and matures into something lovely that I am proud to share.

Thank you for checking out my website.  I hope you enjoy my pieces as much as I have enjoyed creating them.
